Read MoreEvery year in June we take a journey up to Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. One of our all time favorite trips is down the Kongakut River. The Kongakut River begins in the Davidson Mountains of the Brooks Range, and runs north out to the Beaufort Sea. It is in the Northeastern corner of Alaska, and is very close to the border shared with the Yukon Territory, in Canada. Kongakut is from the Inupiaq Eskimo language meaning “deer pond.”
