Alagnak River
Alagnak River was designated as a Wild and Scenic River in 1980. It is located in an Katmai National Park and Preserve. We fly from the fishing village of King Salmon by Float Plane, to the Scenic Nonvianuk Lake. We choose to run the mellow Nonvianuk Lake and River, with 18 miles of clear waters, and abundant dry fly and streamer fishing to the confluence. Our first camp is in the birch forest. The next day we make our way to the fork where the two branches of headwater come together to form the might Alagnak. This confluence is an incredible fishing opportunity for a wide variety of species. Also known as the Branch River, For the next 32 miles with the joining of the two upper forks, islands and braids create lots of fishing opportunities. This is a big river, with deep holes and lots of bank structure to catch enormous Rainbows trout and Silver Salmon.
