Lake Creek

If you want to fish for Kings or Silvers and fly straight from Anchorage then you will love Lake Creek. It’s an hour by float plane into one of the most beautiful rivers in the world, Lake Creek.

King Fishing is Hot in late JUNE through July 13th. Silver Fishing picks up the second week in August along with Chum and Sockeye Salmon.   Great for Views of Denali and Alaska Range.

Lake Creek is a perfect fishing/adventure for those who want to do a shorter fishing expedition or want to target huge King Salmon during mid June through July 13.   It starts with a float plane ride, right from Lake Hood in Anchorage. Enjoy the incredibly scenic,  one hour flight to Chelatna Lake where Walt Disney once built a home. You fly directly towards Denali and the Alaska Range.   It’s one of the most beautiful rivers in Alaska.

You’re closer to Denali on the upper river than at Wonder Lake in Denali National Park.   On clear days you get an up close view of the three biggest peaks in the Alaska Range, Denali (20,320 ft), Foraker (17,400 ft) and Hunter (14,573 ft).

Here’s Lake Creek from the flight in. Mt. Foraker is on the left, Denali on the right. Kahiltna Glacier is between the mountains.
Here’s Denali as seen from the plane while flying into Lake Creek.

Lake Creek has some class 3 white water which makes things fun, but also provides an experience you will never forget. It has all five Pacific Salmon. The Rainbow fishing is  excellent mid July on. Silvers, Sockeye and Chums run in early August which is typically an excellent time to fish Lake Creek.
