KAMCHATKA FISHING

Ouzel has been providing remote fly fishing float trips in Kamchatka for 27 years. 2018 will be our 28th year in business in Kamchatka! That’s longer than any other western outfitters. We provide you a real wilderness fishing experience.   We operate float trips only and we are the best at it in Kamchatka.  Fixed base camps have their problems ie. over fishing their section of river. At Ouzel Expeditions we strive to give every client the same the best fishing opportunity available for that life changing experience of a  dream come true fishing adventure.

Ouzel expeditions is passionate about fly fishing and cares about the long term health of the rivers.  Our Russian guides are former Fish and Game officers,  who have vast knowledge of the rivers and ecosystems in Kamchatka.

We know where to go, and when to go there, in order to provide you with the best possible fishing experience. We fish many different rivers and choose the best river to fish the week you are there. Weather conditions, Salmon runs and a whole lot more go into determining just which river you will be floating the week of your trip with us.

Ouzel Expeditions has been guiding clients for the past 40 years on remote rivers in Alaska. We have a great system to make it very comfortable. You could say Ouzel has the remote float trip experience totally dialed in.

So if you want that “remote wilderness fishing experience,”  Ouzel is your best choice.

We want to provide a family like atmosphere.  Where you feel welcome and appreciated.   We take care of people and really enjoy it. No one in Kamchatka has a better wilderness float trip experience than Ouzel Expeditions!

Our staff,  takes care of all the hard work while you sit back and fish and relax.

Your day begins with coffee and appetizers then a hearty breakfast.  You can fish around camp and after breakfast you can wade off down river.  Shortly after, camp is packed up and your raft and guide is back with you.  Two guests per raft. One in the front and one in the back. This gives you plenty of room to cast to either side of the river.

We stop and wade from hole to hole.  Fishing from the rafts is excellent. We camp right at a nice fishing hole but most guests are pretty tired after a full day of fishing and enjoy a little camp time with conversation and a Russian Beer or Vodka.

“I have been with other companies and the food on Ouzel trips is by far much better than the others.   Our cook Natasha cooked meals that you could only find at some expensive fine dining restaurant.”

We have three hot delicious Russian meals each day.  The soups and main courses are hearty and healthy.  There are a variety of fish to catch in Kamchatka’s rivers.

Rainbow trout are our specialty. We catch lots of giants. Rainbow fight harder and are in a lot of cases larger than Salmon. That’s why our trips are basically for Rainbow Trout. There are Salmon too of course but our target species is Rainbow Trout.

There are six species of pacific salmon.  Arctic char are present all summer.  Kundzha  (East Siberian Char) are great fighters!  Salmon arrival times vary from stream to stream but generally arrive the same time in Kamchatka as Alaska.  We fish for King Salmon from mid June through early July.  Silvers arrive mid August and run through October.  Chum Salmon run all season long.  Sockeye Salmon arrive in July and August.  Pinks run every year and alternate from the west coast to the east coast. One year pinks run heavy on the west coast then the next year they run heavy on the east coast from August through September.

Join us  in 2018 for another year in Kamchatka and experience Kamchatka’s gigantic rainbows for yourself.

Thanks for checking us out. I hope you can join us this summer!
